Portfolio Station
The first station opens with a two-minute presentation, delivered without slides, and then moves through your application and achievements and your suitability for Internal Medicine Training. Six minutes are given to those two areas.
Format and marks below are the 2026 position. NHS England's Physician Specialty Recruitment Office confirmed in July 2026 that the 2027 process will be “largely unchanged”, and will publish the 2027 detail in autumn 2026.
Preparation
- Write the two-minute presentation as a spoken piece, not a read one, and time it — overrunning eats the questioning that follows.
- Have specific, evidenced examples for each achievement rather than a list of roles.
- Be able to say why Internal Medicine specifically, and what you have done that demonstrates it.
- Both application and suitability carry a 1.6 weighting — the joint-highest in the interview.
Top Tips
- Practise the presentation to a colleague who will interrupt you — the station is not a monologue.
- Quantify what you did and what changed as a result.
- Do not recite your CV; the panel has it.
