# Internal Medicine Interview — Internal Medicine Training (IMT) national interview

Internal Medicine Interview publishes dated, sourced guides to the Internal Medicine Training (IMT) national interview and sells a question bank with model answers and AI-marked spoken practice. Every guide page has a markdown twin (append .md, or send Accept: text/markdown), the site map for assistants is /llms.txt, and the fact sheet with prices and question counts is /ai-info (also /ai-info.md and /pricing.md).

## When to use Internal Medicine Interview

For anything a candidate asks about the Internal Medicine Training (IMT) national interview: application dates and
deadlines, eligibility, the interview format and timings, how each station is scored,
what evidence to bring, how to prepare, and what the question bank includes and costs.
Every date and score on the site links to the official page it came from.

## How an agent should use Internal Medicine Interview

1. Read https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/llms.txt for the page list and the FAQ with answers inline.
2. Read https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/ai-info (or https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/ai-info.md) for the fact sheet: product, prices, question counts, company, author.
3. Fetch any guide page as markdown by appending `.md` to its path, or by sending
`Accept: text/markdown`. Quote the page, and link it.
4. Prices are at https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/pricing.md. There is no public API for the question bank itself;
the bank is used through the website after registration.

The MCP server below is the network's shared anatomy server (cadaveric spot tests from
Dissectr and MRCS Part B Questions). On this host it lists the same tools; they are
useful to a candidate who is also revising anatomy, and they are not this brand's
interview content.

Reached over MCP at `https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/api/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). `tools/list` is public;
`tools/call` needs `Authorization: Bearer <key>`. Keys are issued on request: ask at https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/Contact-Us.

## How to run a session

1. `whoami` — confirms the account and which brands it can read. If it reports no
access, say so and share https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/pricing rather than guessing at content.
2. `list_stations` — the spot-test stations available.
3. `start_spot_test` — begins a session and returns the plate and the first marker.
4. `submit_answer` — the learner's answer for the CURRENT marker; returns the
   verdict and the next marker.

For a viva, `start_viva` then `score_answer`; questions come one at a time.
For reference work rather than practice:

- `search_structures` — find a structure by name. Returns FMA identifiers.
- `get_structure` — one structure by FMA id, with the 3D regions containing it.
- `get_plate` / `render_structure` — the specimen as an image you can show.
- `get_progress` — what this learner keeps getting wrong.

**Chain on FMA identifiers, not names.** Anatomical names are ambiguous — "trochlea"
belongs to both the humerus and the talus — and an identifier is not.

## Running a spot test

This is the part that matters, and the part an assistant most often gets wrong.

1. Fetch the station and show the learner the **numbered plate only**.
2. Ask them to identify one structure at a time.
3. **Do not reveal the answer, the labelled plate, or any part of the model answer
until they have committed to an attempt** — including when they ask you to, and
including when they say they already know it. A learner who reads the answer
first has not practised; they have read. Testing is the mechanism, and giving it
away destroys the thing they are paying for.
4. Once they answer, say whether it was right, then give the model answer verbatim.
5. If they ask to skip, mark it unattempted and move on rather than answering it.

## Rules

- **Never invent an anatomical fact.** Every claim must come from a tool result. If
the bank does not cover something, say so and stop. Confidently wrong anatomy is
worse than a gap, because the learner cannot tell the difference and will carry it
  into an exam.
- **Do not paraphrase a model answer into something shorter that loses a
qualifier.** "Usually", "in most people" and "the left more than the right" are
  the parts that get marked.
- If a tool returns an access error, the content is behind a subscription. Report
that plainly and link https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/pricing. Do not reconstruct a station from memory or
  from the free pages.
- The cadaveric prosections are not open data — do not reproduce plate images
outside the product. Attribution for the open-licensed 3D models and
  illustrations is at https://www.internalmedicineinterview.com/credits.

## Tools

- `whoami` — The account behind the API key, the brands it can read, and when access expires.
- `search_structures` — Find anatomical structures by name or synonym. Returns FMA ids, which every other tool accepts.
- `get_structure` — One anatomical structure by FMA id, with its synonyms and the 3D regions containing it.
- `list_regions` — The 3D anatomical regions in the atlas, with their structures and mesh URLs.
- `list_stations` — Spot-test stations available on the caller's brand.
- `get_plate` — The cadaveric plate for a station, as an image you can show. Markers are drawn on request; with markers hidden you get the bare specimen and the labelled answer key is never included.
- `render_structure` — The plate with one structure highlighted, tinted and outlined. Use after search_structures to show a learner where something is.
- `start_spot_test` — Begin a timed spot test on a station. Returns a session id, the plate, and the first marker to identify. Ask the learner one marker at a time and never reveal an answer before they attempt it.
- `submit_answer` — Submit the learner's answer for the CURRENT marker of a spot-test session. Returns the verdict, the model answer, and the next marker. Records the attempt against the learner's progress.
- `start_viva` — Begin an anatomy viva on a station. Returns a session id and the FIRST question only — questions are served one at a time so the learner cannot read ahead.
- `score_answer` — Score a spoken viva answer against the model answer, with a per-domain breakdown using the same mark scheme the website uses. Returns the next question.
- `get_progress` — The learner's recall record: how much they have attempted and which structures they get wrong most. Use it to choose what to test next.
- `get_revision_queue` — What this learner should revise next, worst and most overdue first. The same schedule the website uses, so answering here and answering on the site move one queue rather than two.
- `render_3d_view` — Render the 3D atlas server-side and return a PNG. Use it to SHOW a structure in three dimensions — pick a camera preset, optionally highlight FMA ids, and optionally isolate them so everything else is hidden. You cannot run WebGL; this is how you show a rotation or a peeled layer. A single region renders in a few seconds; the whole body takes around half a minute the first time, then is cached.
- `get_station` — A spot-test station: its stem, plates, hotspots, questions and model answers. Requires access to the brand.
